Lighting within the bathroom can appear a simple matter, yet to obtain an excellent result , just like in any other living environment, we must consider both functionality as well as aesthetics at the same time. For this reason, in today’s post I’ll talk to you about how to illuminate a bathroom without making any mistake, taking into consideration technical aspects and also good taste, just like a professional would do!
How to illuminate your bathroom: general lighting
Even if it is a small size environment, we do not have to ignore the importance of general lighting for our bathroom. A ceiling lamp is useful to distribute light homogeneously, otherwise spotlights can be used, when needed, to illuminate several areas of the room, such as the beauty area or the shower. In order to create a front-page bathroom, it is even better if the items you choose have a particular design.

Besides these solutions, when height and size allow it, I suggest to exploit the false ceiling for a more pleasant and homogenous illumination. Thanks to diffused light coming from the cuts, the bathroom will appear even more valuable especially with reference to the materials of which it is made of.
Finally, the focus light of every bathroom is the mirror light. From the most old fashioned solutions to the most modern ones, such light is an irreplaceable ally of our everyday routine. The light can come from a modern backlit mirror or even from a wall lamp, maybe a directional one, the important thing is that it isn’t missing.
How to illuminate your bathroom: design lighting
Other than general lighting, in our bathroom we can include a series of lighting items to obtain a real upgrade of this environment. Close to the washbasin for example we can symmetrically place two design wall lamps for a luxury final solution.

Another valid option can be to opt for some pendants modules that when placed together as a whole produce a very elegant final effect. What I suggest is to place them at different heights and only on one side of the washbasin if they are small (around 15-20 cm for the width/diameter). If instead you prefer some larger elements or some items with an eccentric design, it is better to place only one of them as a unique and special item.

Another very theatrical position for design lights is next to the bathtub. Here I always suggest to choose a composition with several elements, like a cascade of small yet precious pendant items, or else a chandelier with simple yet elegant geometrical shapes, especially when the bathtub is in a central position, to give it even more prominence.

How to illuminate your bathroom: humidity factor
Placing the correct lights in the right places and choosing the latest design trends is not sufficient, you will also have to consider another factor, very well know by professionals: the humidity factor. In a bathroom in fact water and steam are a relevant element that we must consider when choosing the lights. Ip code is the tool that, to keep it simple, help us to understand the degrees of protection of electrical items. For a bathroom you cannot go wrong: you’ll have to choose mainly lighting items with IP 44, IP 64 or IP 65.
With this brief guide I hope I have been able to give you all that you need to illuminate your bathroom like a professional, using the lighting universe for your own advantage, to create your dream bathroom.
